Once upon a time, the world was a bigger place – and the spaces wider in between. Today, however, the planet faces very real challenges in the shape of resources, waste, overcrowding and the effects of climate change. As a result, there is a greater focus on sustainability and liveability in the spaces that we choose to call our own.

Enter the ‘Tiny Home’ movement – and actually, movement is a big part of the Bijou story. Because while the lavender and herbs may eventually grow happily around the base, these dwellings are designed to MOVE!

That’s where Bijou’s founders – Adele Greenberg and Braam Walters – bring a unique energy and practical, transport-based background to the world of tiny homes. The pair have more than 50 years combined experience in the design, manufacture, sales and management of motorhomes, buses, trailers and trucks – everywhere from urban environments to the remote African wilderness and even the rugged mining industry.

More recently, while in roles relating to sustainability and the customer experience, they identified an itch that wasn’t being scratched in the Tiny Home market. A high-end design that would promote living spaciously, yet portably, in a single-level layout that delivered a small footprint without sacrificing a sense of luxury. And so, Bijou was born – and we cannot wait to share it with you!
